First MCO Re-Awarded Several Managed Care and PPO Network Services Contracts

First Managed Care Option, Inc, a pioneer Managed Care Organization, was re-awarded contracts from the Toms River Board of Education, the Suburban Metro JIF, the Morris County Municipal JIF, the Elizabeth Board of Education, and the City of Passaic. These contracts for Managed Care Services and PPO Network access will serve hundreds of employers in more than 60 municipalities.

The regulations governing the procurement process for public entities can make responding to RFPs demanding. The average request outlining proposal requirements is about 30 pages, but they are often much larger.

An independent council evaluates each proposal across several metrics, such as service methodology, innovative technology, and documented track record.  The qualifications and experience of leadership is also a consideration, and the resumes of all proposed staff are reviewed.

This is the 11th consecutive bidding cycle First MCO has won the Elizabeth BOE contract. They have been providing Managed Care services to the 43 municipalities that comprise the Morris County Municipal JIF since 2002.

What does it take to outshine the competition for an average of 15 years?   A commitment to outstanding customer service and the ability to adapt to needs unique to the public sector.

For example, First MCO closes most claims in less than 30 days. Their comprehensive Return-to-Work program prevents nearly 80% of cases from incurring indemnity expenses due to “lost time” from work. These are key factors when the injured worker is a fireman or teacher, and returning to work quickly can be crucial.

“Our clients count on us to be attentive, responsive, and adaptive. At First MCO, “white glove” is the standard,” Joshshina A. McGlotten, Director, Marketing & Business Development

Under the leadership of President, Bruce Nash, First MCO has seen steady business growth. But he considers the longevity of their partnership with the public sector as a “feather in their cap.” He explains, “Essentially, at the end of every contract period, we have to compete to keep this business. The start of every new contract period means our clients have chosen us over the competition again. We’re particularly proud of that.”

First MCO is a full-service Managed Care Organization, National PPO Network and approved PIP Vendor for New Jersey. They provide clinical oversight, cost containment services and Pharmacy Benefits Management for workers’ compensation, and auto injury claims. First MCO has been helping clients manage medical and indemnity costs since 1979.
